Recharges and retimbrings
In our facilities we have exclusive machinery and experienced technicians to carry out all these tasks and, in this way, offer these services to our customers, improving the quality standards of the market.
Recharging and retimbrings service for fire extinguishing systems
The service we provide to our customers in terms of refilling is dedicated to fire extinguishing, in particular to CO2 and low pressure extinguishing agents combined with N2, such as HFC227 ea or HFC227 extinguishing gas (commercially known as FM200 gas). The retimbering procedure is in accordance with the Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive 2010/35/EU (TPED) and is certified by an accredited body.

Sometimes recharging fire extinguishers can be confused with fire extinguishers retimbring, recharging is a simpler and cheaper process than fire extinguishers retimbring. In fact, recharging fire extinguishers is one of the steps that must be carried out when fire extinguishers retimbring, in other words, it is possible to recharge without retimbring but not the other way round.
Fire extinguishers have a useful life of 20 years and the retimbring of fire extinguishers is a revision that is carried out every 5 years, 3 times throughout the life of an extinguisher, thus reaching 20 years of life. Fire extinguishers must be decommissioned when they are 20 years old, for this reason to make a retimbring of extinguishers should be taken into account that the extinguisher has less than 20 years of life, which is in good condition and does not meet any criteria to be rejected.
This review called retimbring of extinguishers consists of several steps, it begins by removing the pressure from the extinguisher to disassemble and clean it, then it is subjected to a certain pressure depending on the type of extinguisher and depressurised to recharge it, assemble it and finish the process by subjecting it to pressure again.
Cylinders containing fire extinguishing agents must be removed from their installation every 10 years for pressure testing.
As with the re-stamping of fire extinguishers and large bottles, when performing cylinder re-stamping tests, the valves must be inspected, and, if necessary, the seals on the internal piston and the solenoid valve base must be replaced.
To re-stampe cylinders, the containers must comply with current regulations. For example, copper valves are not permitted, and the metal parts in contact with the contents must not be composed of more than 65% copper.
All cylinders intended for industrial and medical gases, irrespective of their material or brand name, must undergo an overhaul or inspection, also called retimbring of bottles, at periods or intervals of 10 years.
The retimbring of bottles starts with a visual inspection of the bottle and valve, followed by an inspection, identification and control of the marks on the bottle, followed by a visual inspection of the outside of the bottle, and before finishing, the neck of the bottle and the internal thread are checked, and then a final inspection of the inside, the thread and the valve.
After the retimbring of bottles, the bottles are labelled according to the customer’s requirements and instructions.
